Requirements
Everything you need to run Atlas Agent. Two things to install, one optional API key.
macOS
Required
Atlas runs on Mac — MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro. macOS Ventura (13) or later. Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel.
Already have a Mac? You're ready. Atlas uses Apple Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, and Notes — all built into macOS.
Ollama
Required for local AI
Ollama runs AI models locally on your Mac. Atlas uses it for 100% private inference — your data never leaves your machine. Free, open source.
- 1 Download and install Ollama
- 2 Open Terminal and run:
ollama pull gemma4:26b - 3 Atlas detects it automatically
Free. ~17GB download for Gemma 4 27B (recommended). Smaller models available (4B = ~3GB).

Google AI Studio
Free
Get a free API key for Gemma 4 on Google's servers. No credit card required. Good for Macs without enough RAM for local models.
- 1 Go to Google AI Studio
- 2 Click "Get API Key" → "Create API Key"
- 3 Paste the key in Atlas Settings
Free tier: 15 requests/min, 1M tokens/day. More than enough for most businesses.
OpenRouter
Optional
Access 100+ AI models (Claude, GPT-4, Gemma, Llama, Grok) through one API key. Pay as you go — only for what you use.
- 1 Create an account at OpenRouter
- 2 Go to Keys → Create Key
- 3 Paste the key in Atlas Settings
For when you want Claude, GPT-4o, or other premium models. Gemma is also available and cheaper here.
